Writing about Thailand journey

ข้อมูลby jackytan » Tue May 31, 2011 5:16 pm

Dang Khoa said: “When Bangkok and Pattaya have become too familiar, Ayuthaya is an exciting destination to discover other Thailand which is not less magnificent.”
After a few days wandering for shopping and visiting in very bustling of Bangkok and a busy Pattaya, according to the plan, there was one day left before coming back to Vietnam, we planned to find a place near Bangkok for our journey. And historic park Ayuthaya which was chosen as a world heritage by UNESCO in 1991 was our destination.
Early morning, we catch a taxi to Hualamphong station. It took the taxi driver one hour to take us from Pratunam to station, one reason was for traffic jam, other was the taxi seems to take a farther round. Bangkok Street is always crowded in rush hours, but it is more terrible than our thoughts before coming Thailand.
In the station, many officials in uniforms greeting visitors to buy train tickets for their travel agencies, some others even combined with taxi drivers to introduce visitors with the price of 2000 baht.  Although we refused, they still smiled. We decided to buy train tickets to travel al day with the price of 245 baht per each person for the air-conditioning train.
More than 2 hours on the route 80 km by train, we arrived at Ayuthaya station at noon. The first feeling of upon arrival was that the street was quite silent with many trees; the tired feeling in the route has been disappeared. After having lunch in the restaurant near the station, we were guided to the most interesting places with the helpful of the young owner and her warm smile that we can see in any Thais people, like the description on the travel newspaper.
We returned to the station to discuss the price with taxi driver tuk tuk as the first welcome, discovering the places here by tuk tuk is a popular car in Thailand, with the price of 600 badt for the afternoon and to anywhere you want in Ayuthaya.
That was a cheap price so we both agreed. If you have much time, you can rent bicycles roaming around as Western visitors with bargain prices. The cost of purchasing, eating or travel activities in Thailand is almost cheapest than other Southeast Asian countries where we have ever been.
Getting on the car, the driver asked us where we come from and after our answer, he said: "Hoang Anh Gia Lai", we were very surprise, after Kiatisuk came to Vietnam in the color of Hoang Anh Gia Lai; this name seems to be interested by many Thais people.
The first place that we chose was Wat Yai Chaimongkhon, near the station most; the biggest one seems to be a combination of tower tombs, monasteries and temples. Walking around this area where the architecture is the pinnacle like the Golden Temple, Jade Buddha Temple or most temples in Bangkok. But over the time, the plaster that was peeled revealing the brick sidewalks and hidden behind the ancient trees that made this place becoming more ancient.

This made us excited because after visiting the magnificent and splendid temples in Bangkok, the ancients here brought this place in to the mystery. Human heart becomes relaxed, more spiritual. There are many Buddha statutes wearing yellow frocks which were put along the path and they saw a clear change in our daily life here.

Behind Wat Yai Chaimongkhon, it is the tower with the path up to 45 degrees, climbing slowly step by step and looking down a majestic place. Here, you can watch the very interesting full scene, the view with many deep green trees.

An interesting thing is that those who loved the movie Journey to the West produced in 1986 will discover that Wat Yai Chaimongkhon was used as a filming site for the 24th episode of this popular series.

Leaving the first place, we chose a rather large but more devastated place with crumbling tower blocks, which is Ratburana Wat, where is famous for the myth that the Buddha was covered by old trees .

Wat Ratburana probably was the most devastated place. The ravages of time made clear, almost citadel remains was the devastated crumbling with several Buddha statues interspersed intact. Japanese visitors in a large delegation visit this place and pay attention to the tour guides explanation. Western visitors are traveling alone or in groups of 2-3 people.

We tried to observe whether any Vietnamese but no one and we wonder how fascinating this place, why Vietnam tourism don’t introduce to visitors? Walking to feel, to imagine the ancient images and take photos to memorize, we got on the car to pass through Wat Phra Mongkol Bophit which located in the back streets, where the Buddha biggest copper statute was built by the king around the 16th century.

Thailand is probably one of the revered Buddhist nations in the world where more than 90% of the population are Buddhist. They pray here quite crowded with very respectful attitude. We noticed when they came here, they brought a candle, a lotus plant, and three very thin gold foil. They rub the leaves lightly golden Buddha statue, it will stick shiny like real gold. Perhaps it is a tradition and we also follow to hope for more luck. After that, we also know that if the gold leaf sticks to your hands, you should rub it lightly on the forehead again. Around this region, there are cluster towers which located near each other, so elephant riding service also attracts the tourists.

Before the afternoon, we visited the statue which located between heaven and earth. Vehicles pass through the cool shady forest trees, run along the cool riverside path, but the home is still remained on the river  showing  that the  boat life in the past  rather busy and prosperity, we chose Wat Chaiwatthanaram was the last stop before sunset.

Architecture here is the pinnacle but more decoration with the magnificent dome of brick. Perhaps this is one of the most beautiful temples, the most splendid temple in this Ayuthaya, spacious campus with smooth green lawns and the river beside. Entrance to the tower is also very steep, probably over 45 degrees, if you want to climb, you have to use two hands and two legs to cling. A special thing is that all Buddha are headless due to lose in ancient war bringing us a strange impressive.

Here and there, the monks hide in the shadow showing the inherent features of the ancient works. Hundreds of student unions in uniform came to visit this place with the teachers. Thai people are really good at preserving cultural values and small architecture, they teach students about history with a tour like this to practice when they grow up, they know how to love, appreciate and preserve the legacy the ancestors  left.

Those few hours spent on the ancient monuments of the ancient capital of Ayutthaya brought us an unforgettable feeling.  Although it took us 3 days to be able to visit all history park Ayutthaya, we were forced to return to the train station in the afternoon to buy tickets on the regret that there are still many places which we haven’t visited yet.

After reviewing the schedule of the train, we decided to buy a ticket for the train that was about to move and this time we were unexpectedly when the price was 20 badt per person, cheaper than tickets at the morning. This train did not have air conditioning, equip stiff seats and stop several times but no problem; we were very excited when purchasing tickets with cheap price.
Along the way everyone can see the vast fields of this beautiful country in the late afternoon light. A day went by really interesting and useful.

When Bangkok and Pattaya have become too familiar, Ayuthaya is an exciting destination to discover other Thailand which is not less magnificent through the image of a prosperous reign was over. We hope to come back in another time with more time to have more exciting experiences for our lives.

I have visited few of the places in Thailand – Ayutthaya which includes:

Grand Palace - The Grand Palace called "The Ancient Palace", this housing lodging for every king was situated close to the city wall. Important buildings inside the Grand Palace compound are:

Wihan Somdet Hall - The lobby was ornamented with gold leaf and surrounded by cloisters. It was used for assorted royal ceremonies including coronations. AND Sanphet Prasat Hall - This structure, in the same design as Wihan Somdet Hall, was used by the king to greeting foreign envoys and visitors.

Chankasem or Front Palace

This palace nearby the Pasak River was built by King Maha Thammaracha, the 17th Ayutthaya monarch, as a residence for his son. Like other ruins, it was destroyed in 1767 by the Burmese and abandoned. In the mid-19th century, King Rama IV ordered it rebuilt as a residence for his infrequent visits to Ayutthaya. There are a lot of appealing sites in the palace like City Wall and Gate, Phlapphla Chaturamuk, Phiman Rattaya Hall and more.

Well, Thailand is the best place for travelling its beaches and places are serene and lush like such a dream place especially Phuket, Pattaya, Chiang Mai and Bangkok.
Furthermore, Thai peoples are friendlier and helpful which is the main reason that tourists visit there in a huge numbers.

Thailand's allure is pure Oriental fantasy, can be said as a dream world of royal palaces with delicately peaked roofs, glittering temples that pierce the skyline and serene images of the Buddha radiating peace and divine knowledge.
I had a great journey with Cheap Car Rental in Toronto!
