Shang Palace Restaurant

Shangri La hotel

Lunch offers a 5 or 6 course lunch set menu.

Shang Palace Restaurant located along the Chao Phraya river at the beautiful Shangri-La Hotel in the Shangri-La Wing on level 3 is this magnificent Chinese restaurant. Upon arrival, you are immediately greeted by a lovely hostess and when you enter the restaurant you will see a large gold Chinese-style Buddha, the dominant feature of an otherwise low-key room but all the better to showcase the Chinese artworks and carvings.

The Restaurant lunch offers a variety of traditional dishes, and a delectable Dim Sum buffet. Starters include a Mixed Barbecued Platter and Prawn and Fresh Fruit Salad. Your favorite soups are here with Double Boiled Superior Sharkโ€™s Fin with Bamboo Pith and the popular Szechwan Hot and Sour Soup. There is a special 5 course and 6 course set lunch menu. The Peking duck, a house specialty, is carved very delicately by a server wearing white gloves, and served as two courses; crispy skin and minced meat with lettuce.

Meat and chicken lovers will face the difficult task of choosing between the equally delicious Sauteed Beef in Black Pepper Sauce, the Pan-Fried Chicken Fillet Glazed with Orange Sauce, and the Pork Rib Sauteed with Minced Garlic and more. There are special dinner menu selections and live seafood is also a house specialty, with red garoupa, black garoupa, sea bass and many shark's fin dishes. Don't miss the Deep-Fried Prawns with Sweet and Sour Sauce โ€ฆ.a superb dish even to share, Sliced Garoupa Fillet Sauteed with XO Sauce, and fresh Scallops Sauteed with Pine Nuts. Of course there is Rice and Noodles, Fried Rice Yang Chow Style, Fried Noodles Singapore Style, and Seafood Rice Baked in Pumpkin. Dessert, if you have room, offers Mango Pudding and the Chilled Sago Cream with Cantaloupe. Some of these items may not be available when you visit.

The hotel's standard wine list is very extensive. The list is arranged according to the properties of the wine, such as, "light fruity reds" and there is even a list of wines that go with Asian foods. You may select a cognac to get into the Hong Kong style or there is even a Louis XIII available at 3,000 baht per glass.

The staff is friendly and the service, as expected, is impeccable.
