Mayflower Restaurant

Dusit Thani Hotel ยย ย

The Mayflower Restaurant is celebrated for its superb Cantonese specialties, prepared to perfection and served in a luxurious setting, enhanced by Chinese antiques.

In the lower lobby of the Dusit Thani Hotel, the restaurant exudes an elegant atmosphere with its modern Chinese decor.

Focus of the menu isย Cantonese cuisine. From the list of soups, try hot and sour Sichuan soup, presented in clear bowls suspended on supports and heated from beneath by a candle. As expected, sharkโ€™s fin features prominently, with braised superior sharkโ€™s fin with Yunnan ham, and my personal favorite, superior shark's fin with bamboo pith in brow soup. You may wish to start with Phuket lobster salad or the king cold hors d'oeuvres. Popular for its duck and pork, the Mayflower offers superb barbequed peking duck while the meat can be cooked in numerous styles ensuring no parts go to waste. Seafood and shellfish are numerous with specialties such as; baked crab claws in spicy sauce or the crystal prawn with spicy sauce. Another popular dish is sauteed fresh abalone with oyster sauce. For something a bit more filling, choose from rice or the noodle dishes, with Singapore noodles being recommended by myself. We all love to finish with dessert, so why not complete the meal with a traditional fried Chinese pancake.

The wine list is extensive, offering a selection of wines from around the world at a full range of prices. Staff is efficient, cordial, and dishes arrive quickly to the table. For a complete meal for two, less wine, expect to pay about 3,000 baht.
