Silom Village Restaurant

Silom Village not only provide nice hotel but also great thai restaurant. The last village Thai tradition old style on Silom road. Within the compound are 15 teak houses and 3 buildings, owned by Mr. Cheaw chong Pre. These houses were constructed in the reign of King Chulalongkorn (Rama V) in 1908 and converted to restaurant and Thai handicraft shop in 1981.

On 7 Sep 1984 Her Royal Highness Maha Chakri SirinThorn Graciously bestowed certificate for The Conservation of Historic Building Award on the occasion of fiftieth anniversary of The association of Siamese Architects under Royal patronage.

Silom Road is always crowded with locals and foreigner as it has always been a significant business center in the heart of Bangkok for many year. Opposite Wat Khaek Temple on Silom Road, a โ€œpanya-styleโ€ building (unique house design with a square-shaped wooden roof in southern Thai style) stands in majestic splendor, as it has for many long years, as part of a cultural heritage inherited form ancestors and very meaningful to Khun Prapatsorn Aksbaramat.

The building belonged to my father. Mr. Siew Song Pae Siboonruang and I was born raised there. Apart from this front building, a row of some 10 other teak houses lay in a 5-raf compound (about 2 acres). Our relatives and their children lived in some of those teak houses and other were rented at Bt15 per month/house. When I married. We resided in the front building and the other teak houses continued to be rented until 1978. With the ides of involving our children in a join business venture. We preserved those houses.

Later some of the houses deteriorated and I had them renovated. Those that could not be renovated were demolished. I then arranged for a connecting way to be built to bridge the remaining house together and set up an ancient-house trading center known as โ€œSilom Village Trade Center โ€œ on November 29, 1980, to sell souvenirs and Thai art objects, together with a Thai food and seafood restaurant In addition. We demonstrated how to prepare traditional Thai desserts. Such as khanom bueng yuan. Khao krib pakmaw. Khanom krok, thong yip as well as the art of fruit carving.

Silom Village. Today is a majestic jewel on Silom Road. Steadfastly and successfully maintaining its traditional Thai identity.
