On 18/07/2011, Chairman of the provincial tourism Champasack (Laos), Mrs Somleth Phosalath, said Champasack provine and Ho Chi Minh City is promoting cooperation in tourism and obtained more satisfactory results in the spirit cooperation agreement between the Association of Champasack provincial tourism and the Association of Ho Chi Minh tourism that was signed in 2009.

Mrs Phosalath also said that in 2010, more than 300,000 foreign tourists visited the province Champasack (up 10% compared to2009), in which visitors from Thailand accounted for 55%,remaining mostly Vietnamese tourists, up from an average of only about 5% of Vietnam tourists compared to foreign visitors to Champasack in total. This number will continue increasingly in the future and the relationship between Vietnam and Lao are more closely. The two countries must to enhance all the sectors in the field of tourism such as promoting the service of hotels in Vietnam as well as hotels in Lao.

She said the number of Vietnam tourists increased mainly due to the form of Vietnam tour packages, improving transportation routes, enhancing information exchange, capacity and quality of tourism ...that the two parties are implemented.

She hopes the national airline of Laos (Lao Airlines) flights resumed Vientian-Pakse-Ho Chi Minh City from January 1 / 2011will help increase the number of tourists in Vietnam in general and Ho Chi Minh City in particular to visit Champasack.
