I went to Doi Mae Jarim in Nan province on New year day. It is very, very awesome place!! You might have learned a big people-traffic on Doi Inthanon in Chiang Mai on New Year day, right? But you will never face that problem here. It's very quiet and naturally beautiful. No worry about accomodation. It's a national park, so you can enjoy camping and hiking as much as you like. After that you can have a comfy bed to take a rest Smiley How nice!!

That's cool, Thailand!! Thank you and sorry that i came to check your reply so late. So how was your trip to Khong Jeam? I've never been there before...how do you like it? It must be very cold there, though. I was in Nan last December, and it was cold even in the heart of the city!!

Hi all,

Happy for New year 2009

It's very nice.

I have stayed at a small resort face to Mea kong river and every meals
I have tried for Kung fish.

Kung fish is the fish just can find from Mea kong river only.

And I have chance to visit Lao by boat. There is not Chong Max but I don't know
how to call. Murchandise at Lao market so very cheap but not so high for quality.

The border place I crossed to Lao is where Mae Kong river and Moon river crossed.
They call that place is Mae Nam Song See which is meaning in thai, it's mean that
2 color of river. I have seen, yes there is 2 colors of water in the river where Mae Kong river and Moon river crossed.

I recommend you to try. There is no crowd and quiet and also cost quite cheap.

I also recommend Doi Mae Jarim, it was VERY beautiful and the park was stunning!  The traffic wasn't bad at all, and honestly I could go back to visit anytime during the year, not just at New Year's.

Chiangmai, north Thailand is well worth a visit during most of the year.
It offers sightseeing, shopping, international cuisine, handicrafts, agro-tourism and local markets with foods, flowers and local products as well as sporting activities.  Chiangmai also has a nice Zoo, or you may go trekking, rafting, elephant riding or see a temple or a local museum. There are also movie theatres, coffee-shops as well as book-shops or good size shopping centres if someone likes to spend some time indoors .... during a rainy day.

As to accomodation it has plentiful option. Can recommend the Oasis Hotel in Chiangmai. For more details: see_

!The service is very good and friendly, and the cleanliness is high, plus it has a swimming-pool in the back with a little garden and terrace. The location is convenient as not far from the town-center, but still with some tranquility.
Happy travelling. Cheers.
 Huficnx.
